Loan Watch: Starts for Diouf, Welbeck, Chester and Norwood
Oliver Norwood goes straight into Carlisle’s first team
Blackburn Rovers 1 – 1 Fulham
Mame Biram Diouf received his third league start and played the full 90 minutes as Blackburn drew Fulham 1-1.
Christopher Samba opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Clint Dempsey equalised on 55 minutes.
Wigan Athletic 0 – 2 Manchester City
Tom Cleverley picked up a knock in training and was unable to fulfill his wish of getting one over United’s noisy neighbours.
Carlos Tevez drew first blood shortly before half time on 42 minutes and then turned provider by setting up Yaya Toure to make it 2-0 on 69 minutes.
Preston North End 0 – 1 Norwich City
As expected, both Joshua King and Matty James were absentees from Preston’s match on the weekend after picking up ankle injuries against Burnley.
They were both sorely missed as Grant Holt scored the only goal of the match for the Canaries on 61 minutes.
Carlisle United 0 – 0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Oliver Norwood has joined fellow United youngster James Chester on loan at Carlisle and went straight into the first team as both players played the full 90 minutes against Brighton in a bore draw.
Sunderland 1 – 1 Arsenal
Danny Welbeck received his second start for Sunderland and played the full 90 minutes as Sunderland salvaged a late point against Arsenal through Darren Bent’s injury time equaliser.
Huddersfield Town 4 – 2 Yeovil Town
Cameron Stewart was left out of Yeovil’s matchday squad yet again and the player has returned to United to play in two reserves matches before heading back to Yeovil.
Stewart started tonight’s reserves match against Bury, which United won 5 – 1.
Ipswich Town 2 – 0 Cardiff City
Danny Drinkwater was left out of Cardiff’s travelling party to Portman Road, as he was sill recovering from an ankle injury.
Roy Keane’s men bounced back from their 0-3 defeat against QPR by beating Cardiff 2-0.

Upcoming Fixtures:
Manchester United fans might have the opportunity to see United players out on loan face each other in the Carling Cup as Wigan take on Preston North End.
There have been no further updates on the injuries sustained by Joshua King and Matty James, but should they be fit to play, they could find themselves facing Tom Cleverley who was left out of Wigan’s squad on the weekend.
